Kenbe, pa lage<\/em>!\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>ENGLISH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Eloquent message of thanks to the health workers of Haitian ancestry in Quebec by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>I<\/strong>n a message widely distributed on social networks as of Monday, May 4, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ingratiates himself with Haitians and hyphenated citizens of Haitian ancestry everywhere by starting with \u201cSa k pase?\u201d (What\u2019s up?, a phrase that has gained international recognition since Wyclef Jean used it some years ago when he draped himself in the Haitian flag following winning his first Grammy award. Haitians and non-Haitian friends of Haitians have picked it up, making it a standard greeting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Well, Prime Minister Trudeau is following what has become a tradition, especially when non-Haitians want to show some affinity to Haitian citizens and, in this case, Mr. Trudeau wants to make Canadian-Haitians feel that he\u2019s really with them. He compounded it by ending his address with an equally popular Creole statement of encouragement: \u201cKenbe! Pa lage! \u201d (Keep keeping on! Don\u2019t ever slack!\u201d)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here is Mr. in his own words, as transcribed and translated by us: \u201c<em>Bonjou tout mounn<\/em>! <em>Sa k pase<\/em>? (Good morning, everybody, what\u2019s up?)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cAt this very moment, everywhere in Quebec, health workers of Haitian ancestry are working day and night, fighting against the pandemic of COVID-19. These workers are medical doctors, nurses, orderlies and many more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThus, I would like to take a minute to tell them thanks, in the name of all Canadians who are so grateful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201c<em>Each day, they expose themselves to all sorts of risks to ensure our health and our security. They really represent what is best for the country.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allow me, now, to directly address these workers.
